[Ivan Seidenberg]
[Wang Jianzhou]
The 2009 list is headed by Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association, followed by the CEOs of three of the world’s biggest operators — Randall Stephenson of AT&T, Ivan Seidenberg of Verizon and Wang Jianzhou of China Mobile.
They are followed by two of the world’s top regulators, Julius Genachowski of the FCC and European Commissioner Viviane Reding.
GTB Editor Alan Burkitt-Gray commented: “Our readers also helped enormously by suggesting people from around the world who didn’t make it last year — we admitted at the time that there was in 2008 something of a Western bias. We hope that this has been remedied.”
Thanks to the input from readers, there are more women this year. “Last year Viviane Reding was alone among 99 men. This year we’re about 10 times better.”
The full list is available to subscribers and those taking a free trial on the GTB website at http://www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com/Stub/Power100.html.
A 16-page supplement to the September-October printed issue of the magazine will also carry a detailed list of the Power100 — and reprints of the whole supplement will be available shortly from Global Telecoms Business. GTB
