Michael Rocca: new COO



Holly Kramer: leaving Telstra



New Telstra appointments: Justin Milne and Philip Jones to head fixed and mobile market product units respectively. Michael Rocca, to be COO, in charge of network, technology and IT. Robert Nason to lead a new customer satisfaction, simplification and productivity unit. Tarek Robbiati, now CEO of Telstra’s CSL in Hong Kong, is group managing director of Telstra International, holding the interests of the company outside Australia and New Zealand, including Reach and its businesses in China. Holly Kramer, main board member and group MD of product management, is leaving the company.

Tim Marshall, who was media advisor to Australia’s minister of communications, Stephen Conroy, is joining Alcatel-Lucent, the previous employer of Mike Quigley, the head of Conroy’s National Broadband Network project. Adrian Inch, ex Telstra, will be the Australian NBN’s general manager for its operations in Tasmania. Other NBN appointments include Claire Rawlins, ex BT and ex Qwest, as CIO; and Mike Kaiser, chief of staff to the Queensland premier, as principal for government relations and external affairs.

Peter Welch, ex CFO of AeroMobile, is CFO of Cambridge Broadband Networks.

Neelie Kroes, the competition commissioner in the European Union, is to be the commissioner responsible for all aspects of the digital agenda in the 27-nation Union. Viviane Reding, commissioner for media and telecoms in the current administration, will be responsible for justice, fundamental rights and citizenship. The changes will take place in January 2010.

Alexander Izosimov will be CEO of VimpelCom, the Bermuda-registered company that incorporates Russian and Ukrainian interests of Telenor and Altimo, including the VimpelCom operating company in Russia. Jo Lunder will be the chairman of the board of directors. Lunder, Leonid Novoselsky and Hans Peter Kohlhammer will be the independent members of VimpelCom’s board of directors.

Telenor’s new CFO is Richard Olav Aa, currently investment director in Arendals Fossekompani.

Microsoft CFO Chris Liddell is leaving, to be replaced by Peter Klein, CFO of the company’s business division.

Timo Koistinen, ex NSN, is senior VP of Comptel; Simo Sääskilahti, senior VP for product and solutions, has been promoted to deputy CEO.

Orange and TDC’s newly combined Swiss mobile business will be headed by Thomas Sieber, currently CEO of Orange Switzerland. Sunrise CEO Christoph Brand will continue until the completion of the transaction. GTB
