Nabil Bin Salama has been appointed as CEO of Kuwaiti telecom giant, Zain. Salama is replacing Saad al Barrak, who quit earlier this week. Salama will begin his new duties effective February 14 2010.

During 2009, Salama served as minister of communication, electricity and water for Kuwait. Prior to that, he served as general manager for a mobile operator in 1997.

Barrak left in the midst of doubts over a delayed $13.7 billion deal for a Kuwaiti family conglomerate, Kharafi Group, to sell a 46% share in Zain. The stake is to be sold at 2 dinars per share to a group of Asian investors. GTB
