Operators unite against Apple to offer apps store

Two dozen of the world’s largest operators are uniting to form to wholesale apps store, in a bid to prevent Apple, Nokia and other handset vendors taking over the market

Some of the world’s leading operators have formed a wholesale apps store, in a plan to build an open platform that delivers applications to all mobile phone users.
The announcement was made on the first day of Mobile World Congress, almost exactly at the time Ericsson’s CEO Hans Vestberg was announcing his company’s plan to offer a white-label apps store to operators.
