Nokia Siemens Networks won a deal worth over $300 million with Indian operator Aircel. The four-year contract includes the supplying and managing of a GSM network in three Indian states by NSN.

NSN, led since the start of 2010 by Rajeev Suri, will provide the radio, core and microwave network equipments in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Aircel is expecting to start its services in April 2010.

Previously, NSN had also provided a GSM network and related services to Aircel for the cities of Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Last week, the company entered into a $700 million deal with Indian telecom operator, Bharti Airtel.

Aircel is a joint venture between Malaysia’s Maxis Communications and India’s Apollo Hospital Enterprise. NSN’s offerings will help it launch 3G services in future. GTB
