France Telecom, which operates as Orange in most markets, will roll out a quadruple-play offer in France, according to reports. The move will help prepare for the arrival of a fourth mobile services provider in the market.
Orange is looking to launch the offer before the summer of 2010. The offer, by the telecom company, calls for the merger of the fixed telephony, mobile, internet and TV services.
The Iliad group, which operates as Free, is a major player in France as a fixed line operator and an ADSL and fibre internet service provider. Iliad secured France’s fourth third-generation mobile licence in January 2010. It will start operating alongside existing mobile operators, Orange, Vivendi’s SFR and Bouygues Telecom beginning in 2012.
Currently, Bouygues is the sole operator providing a quadruple-play package in France. GTB
