Japanese operator NTT Communications is linking its network with that of TTK so that it can deliver its IP VPN services across Russia.

NTT says that it is forming the link in order to serve Japanese and other multinational companies that expand their Russian operations beyond Moscow and Saint Petersburg into other regions of the country.

TTK has been a partner of NTT since 2006, when they linked their networks via the Hokkaido-Sakhalin submarine cable. TTK has a fibre network that reaches the length of Russia from the far east of the country into Europe.

NTT Com vice president Yosuke Seki said: “Russia is a key emerging market for our customers, a main reason why we established NTT Communications Russia in January 2009.”

Igor Kelshev, senior vice president of TTK, added: “For us it is another important step forward in our cooperation.” GTB
