Verizon Communications is expecting a full-year capex of about $16.8-$17.2 billion in 2010. The US telecoms company spent a similar amount on capital investment in the prior year period.
Verizon’s finance chief, John Killian, is expecting strong free cash flow this year, largely from its wireless business. Verizon Wireless, jointly owned by Verizon and Vodafone, is looking to contribute majority of the cash flow growth.
Verizon Wireless reduced the price of its unlimited calling plans by $30 to $70 early this year. The company is also planning a commercial launch of LTE in 25-30 markets in 2010.
Verizon is also likely to see strong wireless subscriber growth in the first quarter. In the fourth quarter, Verizon had one million net subscriber additions from resellers out of the carrier’s 2.2 million total net wireless subscriber additions. GTB
