Equipment provider NEC has conducted long term evolution laboratory trials with Telefónica. NEC carried out the trial at Telefónica group member, Telefónica de Argentina, between February and March 2010.
Telefónica de Argentina was provided with a total LTE network system by NEC, consisting of core network systems and wireless base stations. NEC says that maximum throughput of data was 145 megabits a second while connecting with a simulator device.
A maximum throughput of 95 megabits a second was achieved in the trials using an actual LTE terminal, and NEC says it plans to participate in future Telefónica field trials.
NEC is aiming to increase performance and enhance the functionality of LTE systems that support next generation communications systems. GTB
