Indonesia is looking to adopt long term evolution 4G technology, in place of the existing WiMax mobile broadband technology.
According to reports within the country, the Indonesian government is also preparing for the range of bands to back the LTE mobile broadband system that is expected to begin commercial service within the next two to three years, according to Muhammad Budi Setiawan, acting director general at the Communication and Information Ministry (Kominfo).
The government has received proposals from three mobile operators, namely Telkomsel, Indosat and XL Axiata, to deliver LTE broadband mobile systems in the country.
The government believes replacement of WiMax with LTE could help enhance the country’s internet development index. GTB
