Maxis is looking to boost its 3G coverage from 60% to 80% of the country as part of its proposed network upgrades for 2010. The Malaysian mobile communications service provider will consider investing $426 million worth of capital towards its network in 2010.
The company is looking to expand its 3G coverage to include 80% of the population by the end of 2010 as compared to 60% now. Maxis is also organising trials of LTE over the next two months.
The company is also planning to offer IPTV services and high speed broadband over a fixed line network. It could also possibly use Telekom Malaysia’s HSBB network.
The company has invested $1.2 billion over the past four years up to 2009 to enhance its network to an IP based infrastructure. GTB
