Qualcomm signs deal with CK Telecom

Qualcomm EVP Derek Aberle has signed a deal licensing technology for Chinese TD-SCDMA technology with CK Telecom

Qualcomm and China-based CK Telecom have signed a subscriber unit and modem card/module licence deal. Qualcomm will provide CK Telecom a worldwide patent licence to develop, manufacture and sell WCDMA and TD-SCDMA subscriber units and modem cards/modules.
TD-SCDMA is China’s home-grown variant of 3G, which is being installed by the world’s biggest mobile operator, China Mobile.
CK Telecom will pay the mobile device chip maker royalties at standard global rates. The company is an OEM and ODM player for wireless terminal products based on mainland China.
CK Telecom has been focusing on manufacturing, research and development, marketing and technical support services in the telecom industry since 2001, said Derek Aberle, executive vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm Technology Licensing. GTB
