SK Telecom is seeking to partner with Apple to offer the iPhone and iPad in Korea. Apple, which started selling the iPad in the US in April 2010, has already sold more than three million devices since its launch.
Apple is planning to launch the iPad in Hong Kong and Singapore in July 2010 and it is already available in Japan and Australia.
SK Telecom and Indonesia’s biggest phone company, Telekomunikasi Indonesia, entered into an agreement to set up a joint venture for a digital content-distribution hub, in May 2010.
Meanwhile SK Telecom is also acquiring a 25.8% stake in a Malaysian broadband-network operator, Packet One Networks, for $100 million, to expand its global presence while giving Packet One the capital it needs to expand its WiMax high-speed broadband network in Malaysia. GTB
