China Mobile Hebei, a provincial company of China Mobile, has selected Ericsson for a managed services contract.
The network equipment provider will be the sole managed services partner for the mobile operator’s 22,000 base station sites through a three-year field maintenance agreement. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Ericsson is taking full responsibility for the field maintenance work of all the base station sites. The cooperation between the two companies has also gained support from the government of Hebei province.
Hebei province, with a population of 69 million, is in north-eastern China, completely surrounding the cities of Beijing and Tianjin. The province is China Mobile’s sixth largest market, with 35 million subscribers.
The China Mobile deal gives Ericsson sole responsibility for the operator’s second-generation GSM and third-generation TD-SCDMA base stations in Hebei province, including those provided by Ericsson rivals. GTB
