Australia’s merged Vodafone Hutchison operation, VHA, has appointed Ericsson to undertake an upgrade of its transmission network.
The company, created by Vodafone and Hutchison in 2009, named Ericsson as the manager of a project to upgrade and build the transmission network by deploying thousands of upgraded microwave radio and optical fibre links across Australia.
Ericsson will supply, roll out and integrate optical and microwave transmission equipment to thousands of sites nationally to boost performance on its 3G network. The contract is to supply, roll out and integrate Ericsson’s products into VHA mobile stations, which will increase transmission speeds on VHA’s mobile network.
VHA will upgrade 3,000 sites in metropolitan, outer metropolitan and regional areas over two years. GTB
