CWW and Next sign network deal

Next has signed a five-year contract with Cable & Wireless Worldwide for a network covering the UK and Hong Kong

Cable & Wireless Worldwide has secured a five-year contract with Next to connect the retailer’s 32 distribution sites and offices in the UK and Hong Kong.
Next, which has 500 stores in the UK and Ireland, as well as catalogue sales and an e-commerce site, plans to use network to underpin all critical communications including taking orders, receiving goods and dispatching items to stores.
By increasing its network capacity, the store chain expects to be able to handle more customer online and in-store orders, particularly during peak periods. The deal is worth exact value was not disclosed.
As part of the deal, Next will use application performance management services from CWW, giving it real-time visibility and control over the network. It will be able to prioritise network traffic as it needs.
Cable & Wireless Worldwide is one of the two separated companies formed from the old Cable & Wireless earlier in 2010. The other, Cable & Wireless Communications, is now entirely unrelated. GTB
