China Mobile has named Li Yue as its new CEO. Yue will be replacing Wang Jianzhou, who will remain chairman and executive director of the mobile operator.
Yue was previously the vice-president and general manager of China Mobile’s parent company. He has worked on network construction, maintenance and corporate development.
Wang had been replaced in June by Li as general manager of China Mobile Communication, the carrier’s state-owned parent. He had, however, been appointed chairman of the newly established board at the parent company.
The Chinese government hired Wang from China Unicom in 2004, and appointed a former China Mobile vice-president to head China Telecom. GTB
