ZTE has signed an agreement worth $254 million to build a mobile network for Telenor. Under the contract, the Chinese telecom equipment maker will create a mobile network for around 4.5 million users for Telenor in Hungary.
ZTE is also planning to arrange 6,000 base stations throughout Hungary and help Telenor roll out a unified 2G, 3G and LTE network, supporting multi-band wireless services.
The Hungary contract follows ZTE’s deployment of a WiMax network for Telefónica in Spain and the building and upgrading of mobile networks for KPN, the Dutch operator, and other Telenor affiliates.
ZTE, which had $9 billion in revenues last year, is expecting several other large contracts from European operators to come through in the next couple of months. GTB
