Tata Teleservices has appointed Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) as its technology and services supplier for the roll-out of its 3G services in India.
NSN will supply LTE-ready base stations as well as provide network implementation and managed services to ensure a smooth roll-out.
Urs Pennanen, NSN’s head in India, told Indian media: “This deployment embeds the latest mobile technology in the TTSL network, preparing it for future demand.”
The deal covers the supply of LTE-ready WCDMA base stations, as well as network implementation and managed services to the Indian operator.
Tata Teleservices secured 3G bandwidth in nine of India’s 22 telecom circles during the spectrum auction conducted earlier this year. The telecom operators who have already paid for license fee and spectrum are expected to get the spectrum by September.
Tata Teleservices currently offers 2G GSM services in 17 telecom circles under the Tata DoCoMo brand, and CDMA services under the Tata Indicom brand. GTB
