Huawei wins Maxis FTTH contract

Malaysia’s Maxis is to build a fibre-to-the-home network using equipment from Huawei

Malaysian integrated communications provider Maxis has appointed Huawei as supplier for its next generation high-speed internet network. Huawei will build and manage a full-service fibre-to-the-home network using GPON technologies.
The company will deliver an end-to-end turnkey services package comprising of active and passive equipment, optical network designs and construction management for the construction of Maxis’s network.
Huawei, which will also manage the FTTH network for three years, is planning to build a broadband network throughout Malaysia for Maxis within 2010, which will also feature eco-friendly micro base stations.
The network will offer Maxis’s subscribers fixed-mobile convergence services including high speed internet services after its completion within the year. The company will launch the network in selected locations in Klang Valley soon. GTB
