Orange Spain plans €500m network upgrade

France Telecom is to invest €500m in upgrading its fixed and mobile networks in Spain

France Telecom is seeking to invest about €500 million for the next two years to improve its network in Spain, which operates under the Orange brand. The upgrade process will be based on the development of new convergent infrastructure for fixed and mobile services.
The investment will primarily be focused on repairing the operator’s equipment and adapting its network to the challenges posed by growth in the use of mobile internet services through smartphones and network cards.
Investments in Orange’s fixed and mobile network renovation will mainly depend on obtaining more spectrums in the reframing process planned for completion in the coming months.
Orange is also planning to launch a 3G technology-based 84 megabits per second offering and provide 100 megabit services through the use of an LTE network. GTB
