China Telecom Americas, the North American subsidiary of China Telecom has established connections with US-based carrier ethernet exchange CENX.
The deal means that China Telecom, the world’s largest fixed-line telecommunications and broadband services provider, will be able to provide services to and from its customer base. China Telecom is connecting to CENX’s New York and Los Angeles exchanges.
Sandy Brown, CEO of CENX, told Global Telecoms Business in July 2010 that the company also has hubs in Chicago and London, and is planning to add more, including Hong Kong.
Nan Chen, president of CENX, welcomed the move. “CENX’s carrier ethernet exchanges are the world’s first and largest service-level interconnects. By leveraging several unique technical innovations and our years of ethernet expertise, CENX exchanges address the key operational and business challenges faced by our customers.”
Donald Tan, president of China Telecom Americas, added: “Connecting with CENX enables China Telecom Americas to extend our reach through a diversified platform.”
CENX said that by interconnecting with other carriers China Telecom will be able to deliver seamless ethernet services.
The CENX connection also enables US based service providers to efficiently reach businesses based in the US, China and the 73 other countries served by China Telecom. GTB
