Indian fibre cable maker Sterlite is creating a joint venture with a Chinese rival, Jiangsu Tongguang
Sterlite Technologies, an Indian company that makes telecoms and power cables, is to create a joint venture company with Jiangsu Tongguang Communication, an optical cable maker from China.
The merged company, Jiangsu Sterlite and Tongguang Optical Fibres, will make, market and distribute optical fibre used in the production of fibre optic cables. The new company will be a combination of Sterlite’s optical fibre technology and Jiangsu Tongguang Communication’s fibre cable manufacturing and market expertise.
The joint venture will offer high-quality and competitive optical fibres and services to customers. Pune-based Sterlite Technologies, which was formerly known as Sterlite Optical Technologies, supplies optical fibres to overseas markets in China, Europe and Southeast Asia. GTB
