Co-operativa de Telefonos Automaticos La Paz is planning to install a fixed wireless network in Bolivia next year.
The new infrastructure will allow Cotel to offer voice and internet services in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto, through around 40 base stations. Around 80% of the new network will be used to provide telecoms services in the city in the first phase.
The new network is expected to be launched in the second half of 2011 and will be extended to the provinces in the second phase. Cotel currently provides fixed telephony as well as internet and pay-TV services. It recently also rolled-out its triple play services in La Paz. GTB
