Microsoft has partnered with several operators to officially introduce and distribute Office 365, its cloud-based software.
The operators — including NTT Communications, Bell Canada, KPN, Telefónica, TDC, TeliaSonera, Orange, Telmex, UPC, Vodafone and Telstra — will bundle the software with their own broadband and hosting solutions.
Office 365, which is supported in 40 countries at launch, will also be offered by software vendors, resellers, systems integrators and other partners.
The new Office 365 provides online access to Microsoft Office, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Lync Online for business communications and collaboration.
It also offers enterprise-grade email, instant messaging, video and web conferencing, shared documents and portals.
Office 365 was under testing stage last year and more than 200,000 businesses and firms are already using the service.
Microsoft is offering a free 30-day trial of the services, following which Office 365 is likely to be available for $2-$27 a month per user. GTB
