UAE operator du intends to launch its LTE network by the end of 2011. The plan to launch an enhanced mobile broadband network plans follows as regional competitors are also planning to bring the LTE service to the region.
Hatem Bamatraf, du’s senior vice president for network development, confirmed the plan, according to a Reuters report. Bamatraf, a member of the Global Telecoms Business 40 under 40 for 2011, said that the launch would be “hopefully before the end of the year ... It’s around a December time frame.”
LTE networks offers speeds that is more than double as compared to previous networks. Its rival Etisalat also launched its own LTE network in September. GTB
