The Dutch economic ministry has said that the country will auction mobile spectrum in October 2012, and will reserve two spectrum blocks in the 800 megahertz band and one in the 900 megahertz band for new operators in the country. Under the auction laws, at least two new entrants will get the opportunity to own spectrum in these bands, according to Dow Jones.
The Dutch market comprises of three players, KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile. Sweden’s Tele2 has been tipped to enter the market, after its CFO said in 2011 that entering the sector through a partner is “definitely an option”, Dow Jones reported.
