Rostelecom and KDDI create fast Russia link

KDDI and Rostelecom launch low-latency service between Japan and Europe utilising shortest route through Russia

Japanese operator KDDI’s US division and Russian operator Rostelecom have introduced a 10 gigabit a second wavelength service between Japan and Europe using the shortest connection through Russia.
Early in 2011, both parties agreed to upgrade the Transit Europe-Asia route and the Russia-Japan Cable Network for wavelength service using the shortest route. In January 2012, the company completed the RJCN.
The RJCN/TEA route is 45-60 milliseconds shorter than the route from Japan to Europe via the Pacific Ocean, the US and the Atlantic Ocean route and is also shorter than the Indian Ocean route. GTB
