Gulf operator Etisalat has confirmed plans to sell its mobile phone towers in Africa in a deal that could be valued at over $600 million, the company told the Wall Street Journal. The proceeds could be used for other investments in the continent, which may include obtaining mobile phone licences.
Etisalat is the third mobile operator in Egypt. A company official told IT News Africa that the deal would increase the company’s liquidity and fund further investments in the Middle East and Africa. GTB
