Swiss Competition Commission Comco has cleared France Telecom’s sale of Orange Switzerland to UK-based private equity investor Apax.
Comco said: “The preliminary check has not found any evidence that the planned purchase would create or reinforce a market dominant position,” according to a report on swissinfo.ch.
The $2.2 billion transaction was announced in December 2011, pending approval from Swiss authorities.
In 2010, Comco blocked France Telecom’s plan to merge Orange Switzerland with rival operator Sunrise, then owned by Danish operator TDC but since sold to CVC, another other private equity investor. GTB
