Telefónica will adopt the Vivo brand for all of its services in Brazil from April 15, thereby completing the merger of operations in the country.
Telefónica’s mobile division is already using the Vivo brand, which will now be used for all the fixed-line, pay TV and internet services of Telefónica Brazil, reported MarketWatch.
Spanish operator Telefónica — the controlling shareholder of Telefónica Brazil — started merging the fixed and mobile units in 2010 after buying out the interest of Portugal Telecom.
In Spain and Latin America outside Brazil Telefónica uses the Movistar brand. In Europe outside Spain it uses O2. GTB
