Intel and Huawei are to set up joint interoperability test laboratory in China for LTE TDD technology. This agreement will also see the deployment of LTE TDD products.
The US-Chinese partnership will use mobile communication platforms from Intel and Huawei’s expertise in LTE TDD network infrastructure technologies to accelerate the deployment, they said. Intel will start testing its mobile platforms in a live environment by linking directly to Huawei’s infrastructure.
Deng Taihua, Huawei’s president of LTE TDD, WiMax and TDS networks, said: “Huawei has been committed to LTE TDD commercial deployment worldwide. We will continuously invest in LTE TDD research and deployment as well as the global expansion of LTE TDD networks.”
A few years ago Intel was the major supporter of WiMax technology, but WiMax has lost momentum and many operators are planning to switch to the TDD version of LTE.
Deng added: “We are excited to partner with Intel to accelerate the development of our technology and provide our customers with leading LTE TDD solutions.” GTB
