América Móvil’s unit Tracfone Wireless has agreed to buy Simple Mobile, an MVNO with one million customers.
Simple Mobile is the biggest virtual mobile network operator on Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile USA network. It is a provider of voice, text messaging, data and mobile broadband services.
Tracfone, which offers prepaid services on a number of other networks in the US, reported revenue of $1.08 billion in the first quarter of this year, up 24% from the first quarter of 2011. América Móvil said in a statement that the deal is expected to close during the second quarter of this year. However, the company declined to provide any financial details. GTB
