Hutchison’s Hi3G Sweden has selected ZTE to install deploy base stations in order to expand its 3G and 4G network infrastructure. Under the $74 million agreement, Chinese vendor will deploy several thousand base stations, in addition to auxiliary microwave and data transmission equipment in the next three years.
The operator will use the base stations both for 3G UMTS services and for 4G services in both TDD and FDD varieties.
Huang Zheng, CEO of ZTE Sweden, said: "We are very glad to ink the deal with Hi3G in Sweden where the two companies launched the world’s first multi-mode LTE network.”
Uni-Ran products from ZTE have enabled Hi3G Sweden to incorporate three modes and five frequencies into one network, which was launched in late 2011.
He added: “The deployment of ZTE equipment in Sweden shows that we have achieved a world leading position in terms of telecoms technology, product solutions and services.” GTB
