Data centre operator Equinix has agreed to buy German rival Ancotel. The deal will give it a data centre in Frankfurt with 2,100 square metres of capacity.
Eric Schwartz, president of Equinix EMEA, said: “The acquisition of Ancotel significantly strengthens Equinix’s value proposition and capabilities both in Europe and globally. Both companies enjoy strong reputations in the market and serve the world’s leading companies. The agreement will also grow the total number of network customers available at Equinix from 700 to 900.”
Ancotel’s assets include edge nodes in Hong Kong, London and Miami. The acquisition, for which no price has been given, is expected to conclude in the third quarter of 2012. GTB
