The Pakistan government has planned to auction licences for 3G spectrum by the end of 2012, local media has reported. The Nation, citing people familiar with the matter, said the government is expecting to auction the licences in November or December.
The auctions were earlier scheduled for March 2012. However, there was a delay in appointing an international consultancy firm, which resulted in postponement of the auctions.
An official told The Nation: “The one of the main reasons behind the delay in auction of 3G licences is the appointment of consultant, which will likely to be hired in next two to three months.” However, the official also added that it will be difficult for the government to complete the auctions by November.
