Swiss operator Sunrise has awarded a five-year multi-technology contract to Huawei to manage its fixed and mobile network including IPTV and internet. The agreement will see Huawei providing design and planning, network build, performance management, network operations and spare parts management, in addition to field operations.
Oliver Steil, Sunrise’s chief executive, said: “We look forward to rolling out our new network programme TQ Net with the global technology leader Huawei. We opted for this partner after successfully cooperating for over two years, during which we saw ample evidence of Huawei’s innovative abilities and drive.”
Under the deal, the staff from Sunrise and the earlier technology partner will be transferred to Huawei’s global services firm. Sunrise was owned by Danish incumbent TDC until it was sold to a private equity company, CVC Capital Partners.
Kevin Tao, Huawei Western Europe’s president, said: “I am confident that by leveraging the wealth of innovations we have pioneered in managed services, Huawei can bring better business value and support Sunrise’s TQ Net programme and its vision to create the best end user experience.” GTB
