T-Mobile USA, owned by Deutsche Telekom, has received a second series of bids for sale of its 7,000 mobile phone towers, reports Bloomberg, citing a person close to the matter.
According to the source, T-Mobile USA has received bids from two base station specialists, American Tower and Crown Castle, as well as from private equity firms. The company is expected to raise about $2 billion from the sale, which is likely to close in September.
Deutsche Telekom decided to sell T-Mobile USA’s towers after AT&T’s planned takeover of the whole business failed in December 2011 over regulatory opposition. GTB
