Ericsson wins MTS Allstream LTE deal

Canada’s MTS Alstream to start commercial LTE service in Manitoba in 2012 after Ericsson equipment contract

Canadian operator MTS Allstream has awarded a contract to Ericsson to build its LTE network. Under the agreement, Ericsson will be MTS’s exclusive supplier and will deploy equipment and operations support systems for dual access 3G and 4G services.
Mark Henderson, Ericsson Canada’s president and CEO, said: “By deploying dual access HSPA Evolution and LTE services, MTS is demonstrating the smooth path operators can take to upgrade their existing infrastructure more effectively.”
MTS intends to unveil commercial LTE services in Manitoba during 2012. Mike Strople, MTS Allstream’s chief technology officer, said: “Our upcoming launch of MTS’s 4G LTE network powered by Ericsson demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers the most innovative products and services available.” GTB
