Orange Dominicana has launched the first 4G LTE network in the Dominican Republic. The country becomes one of the first in Latin America and those of the entire France Telecom Group to deploy the 4G LTE network.
Orange Dominicana, vice president for marketing, Jerome Poulain, said: “Twelve years after having provided Dominicans with the first GSM network, today we announce the arrival of the first 4G LTE network in the Dominican Republic. We invested more than $150 million to double our network and provide the best and latest in mobile technology to all Dominicans in an accessible manner.”
The installation has begun in Santo Domingo, where the company claims speeds of up to 100 megabits a second. The Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. GTB
