Romania is to auction spectrum in four bands for mobile services from 2013 until 2029. Companies must apply by August for the auctions to be carried out in September.
The National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communication expects to announce the results of the auction in October. Spectrum will be awarded for the 800, 900, 1800 and 2600 megahertz bands, the regulator said.
Interested companies need to submit their application file and participation bond by August 13 2012, with an initial bid to indicate the number of blocks they intend to acquire in each of the available spectrum categories.
Companies participating in the auction must have an average turnover of a minimum of €10 million for the last three years. The auction commission will announce approved bidders by August 20, in order to conduct the auction on September 10.
Ancom will provide short-term licences for 15 months, valid until April 2014; and long-term licences for 15 years from April 6 2014. GTB
