The Telecommunications
Regulatory National Agency (ANRT) of Morocco has launched a tender procedure to
select an adviser in order to release at least one 4G licence by the end of 2012,
reports Reuters.
The telecoms regulator
has decided a time limit of August 23 2012 for the submission of bids to
support its ten-year plan to offer enhanced internet services across the
country. Morocco's telecoms market is dominated by Maroc Telecom, Wana and Medi
Telecom.
The adviser will assist
the regulator to decide the terms and conditions of licensing. The advisor will
also be responsible to organise technology installation and will also assist in
the decision on the number of licences.
In May this
year, ANRT officials told Reuters that it intended to give licences at the beginning
of next year and these frequencies will be functional by the end of 2013. GTB
