Editorial Plans
This is planned to be a blog-like section on what’s coming up on www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com and in print in Global Telecoms Business soon.
Our 2010 Media Pack is elsewhere: go to http://www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com/pdf/GTB%20Media%20Pack%202010.pdf to download the PDF in full -- it's 1.3 megs.
Scroll down to the December 14 2009 posting to see our 2010 schedule. This gives our plans for some specials and our CEO and CFO Guide series of advertising supplements. On other things, we can’t predict very far ahead — just like we can’t predict the headline news for next May or June. So we’re not going to say what we’ll be analysing in six months time.
Remember, we update www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com several times a day with the latest news and analysis for senior executives in the telecoms industry worldwide. That means we choose, day by day and week by week, the most topical news and information for our readers in the industry.
We also send out regular email alerts on breaking news stories and a weekly email newsletter: go to the home page and either subscribe or sign up for a free trial, and then select email alerts.
We also publish regular information about new executive appointments in the industry: go to Data & people at the top of the home page.
I'll try to update this page frequently with information about what we're doing. You can also follow us on Twitter -- http://twitter.com/GlobalTelecoms

Things not to ask an editor. Some PR people, it seems, don't understand the web. They keep asking us questions about deadlines (for press releases? Just send them when you have them.) and publication dates.
The vast majority of our material is published first on www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com and then in print in Global Telecoms Business magazine. If you have an idea for a story, don't wait until some supposed deadline and aim to send it in on that day, assuming we'll cry with joy and publish it.
We won't. And we don't publish press releases. And we don't publish articles from PR people about their clients.
All the editorial pages of www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com and Global Telecoms Business are written by us or commissioned by us from specialist writers and contributors for our readers, the leaders in the telecoms industry worldwide.
If you have what you think is a good idea for us, drop an email to the editor when you have the idea. Global Telecoms Business, on the web and in print, is a continuous process. We publish something on the website daily, except for weekends and holidays. So don't wait.
But there's something else not to ask an editor. We get 150--200 press releases by email every day. Fortunately most people are considerate enough not to phone to check the email has arrived. Two minutes per call, 150 times a day: 300 minutes, five hours. Trust email. It works. And trust that we know that if we need to ask questions we'll call you or email you back. You don't have to ask us (a) if we've received the email and (b) if we want to know more. Just email. It works. That's all.

We've moved the date for our GTB Innovation Awards 2010 to Monday June 7 2010. The dinner will be in London and we've provisionally booked the same venue we used in June 2009. Confirmation of those details later.
The deadline for nominations is close of play on Friday February 12 2010. All nominations (they're free) should be made online.
We've set up two quick links so you can find details of the awards. First go to http://tinyurl.com/GTBawards2010 . This has details of the rules, the deadline, the information we need (questions, contacts and so on), and a link to the online nomination form.
Second, go to http://tinyurl.com/GTBresults2009 to have a quick look at the 2009 results. That link is available to subscribers only. If you have a printed July-August 2009 issue lurking around, you'll see everything there on paper.

All topics here are shown as guidance and are subject to change. Global Telecoms Business on www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com and in print aims to provide up-to-the-minute information to subscribers and plans inevitably change through the year.
CEO and CFO Guides
Each printed issue of GTB carries two supplements called the CEO and CFO Guides. The aim of these guides is to educate senior carrier management to the business benefits and possible applications of different technologies in the telecoms sector.
The guides are written in a business style which mirrors GTB’s business-focused approach.
The vast majority of vendors in the telecoms sector use the business case when promoting their products and services to carriers, drawing their attention to how their products and services are able to generate new revenue streams, cut costs and have a positive impact on the bottom line.
This business message used by vendors sits very well alongside the GTB business-focused editorial. This is the reason why so many vendors use GTB supplements to raise the profile and understanding of their products and services.
For information about the CEO and CFO Guides contact Laurence Mackintosh, the publisher, on +44 20 7779 8589 or lmackintosh@euromoneyplc.com
Special Reports
In 2010 each printed issue of GTB will contain a special report which will usually be linked to a survey in the same issue.
The surveys will be carried out online and in print and some of the results will be placed in the magazine while the rest of the results are published on the web site. GTB
