Batelco has struck an agreement with Microsoft that will see the Bahrain carrier offer Office 365 to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

Office 365, which includes Word, Excel, and Outlook among other cloud-based tools, will be added to Batelco’s portfolio of Cloud Services. The operator will also offer installation, training and one year support for back up services as optional add-ons.

The agreement was signed by Batelco cloud and ICT product marketing senior manager Hussain Mohammed and Microsoft Bahrain and Oman GM Sherif Tawfiq at Batelco’s Manama headquarters on August 8.

Tawfiq said: “Office 365 levels the playing field for small businesses in particular because it makes enterprise grade tools affordable and easy to set up and manage.

“We are pleased to work with Batelco to provide Bahrain’s entrepreneurs with communication and collaboration tools which have been designed to enhance productivity, promote collaboration and reduce operational costs.”

The offer will be split across two packages; Office 365 Consumer and Office 365 Business, which will be open to both new and existing customers.

Batelco Bahrain CEO Muna Al Hashemi said: “Batelco aims to lead the local market by providing the most reliable and stable services for entrepreneurs and small operations, and by working closely with other market leading organisations such as Microsoft, we can meet our aims.”

The news follows last month’s announcement that Batelco had launched a nationwide rollout Wifi services in Bahrain with Aptilo Networks. This included providing Wifi for the Formula One weekend, which took place in April.
