Regulator NMHH allows four companies to bid for 900MHz spectrum but excludes Viettel and Romanian operator

Hungarian media and telecommunications authority NMHH — headed by president Annamária Szalai — has accepted requests from four firms to take part in bids for mobile spectrum on January 5 2012.
These companies are Deutsche Telekom’s Magyar Telekom plus Telenor, Vodafone and a group comprising of Magyar Posta — the post office — along with Magyar Villamosmuvek and Magyar Fejlesztesi Bank.
No group may win more than 7.8 megahertz out of 10.8 megahertz that is being auctioned in the 900 megahertz band. The spectrum auction is likely to be completed on January 31.
Operators that were not allowed to submit bids include Vietnam’s Viettel and Romanian operator RCS & RDS. These operators failed to meet the requirements, said NMHH. GTB
