Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has today announced the appointment of David Olds as an Of Counsel in its Singapore-based technology and innovation team.
Olds, who is re-joining the firm having previously worked in the Hong Kong and Singapore office for four years from October 2010, had most recently been working in Yangon since February 2014 as legal director for Ooredoo Myanmar.
“David is a seasoned technology and telecoms lawyer and he’s well-known and well-liked by our clients,” said Stella Cramer, head of the technology and innovation practice for Asia, and head of risk advisory for Asia.
“He has deep regional experience in Asia, and unparalleled knowledge of the legal needs of the technology and telecommunications industries in the region. It’s great to welcome him back to the team.”
The practice Olds has joined focuses on technology and telecommunications-related matters in the Asia-Pacific region.
Olds has focused on assisting clients to enter important emerging markets in this region and to manage the risks that may arise as their businesses expand and the legal and regulatory environment changes.
Jeff Smith, head of South East Asia, added: “David’s appointment will provide us with a platform to further build our outsourcing, technology, telecoms, and data privacy practice in South East Asia, including Myanmar, where David has a great deal of experience. We’re seeing huge growth in the technology market in South East Asia, and a corresponding growth in demand for legal services. David will strengthen the team and help us to meet our clients’ needs.”
Commenting on his appointment, Olds said: “Having worked as an in-house legal director for a major telecommunications company in the region, I am delighted to be returning to Norton Rose Fulbright.” GTB
