Ericsson’s head of North America leaves six weeks after management restructure

Rima Qureshi has left Ericsson, only six weeks after becoming senior vice president and head of the company’s North American market area, to take up a new position, which has not yet been announced.

No reason has been given for her departure. Börje Ekholm, president and CEO, said: “Rima has been an appreciated member of our team for many years. We wish her the best in her new position.”

She will be succeeded in the short term by Niklas Heuveldop, who is chief strategy officer, and head of technology and emerging business. “A recruitment process has been initiated to appoint a successor,” said Ericsson.

Qureshi, educated at McGill University in Montréal, Canada, spent 24 years in the company, joining after six years as an IT consultant. She started with Ericsson in R&D in 1993 and spent time as chief strategy officer while Hans Vestberg was CEO. Vestberg left Ericsson in July 2016 and in April 2017 he joined Verizon to lead network and technology.
