Ooredoo, Huawei and BT were among the big winners at the annual Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards, which were held in London

Ooredoo and its subsidiaries took home an impressive seven awards at the black-tie event, which recognised the most innovative projects carried out by telcos in the past year. It bagged gongs in the Enterprise Innovation category, Software and Applications Innovation category, Consumer Innovation category and the Infrastructure Innovation.

Huawei was also a big winner, taking home a haul of five trophies, across the Software and Applications category and Infrastructure Innovation Category.

BT also bagged four gongs, while Amdocs, Vodafone and SK Telecom also took home more than one award each on the night, which was attended more than 200 top industry executives.

The Awards, which followed an all day summit showcasing the best projects in the telecoms industry, including a speech from futurist Mark Stevenson.

GTB executive editor Alan Burkitt-Gray, who chaired the summit and co-hosted the Awards, said: “It was a memorable evening at the GTB Innovation Awards. As our guest speaker, Mark Stevenson, said at the beginning of the evening, the telecoms industry has more influence on our future than almost anyone else. The awards winners this year showed what outstanding work they are all doing.”
